Music Video reflection

In my music video I think my colour scheme and mine en scene was very successful. Throughout my video I tried to keep the mis en scene all with the same colours and all incorporating green and bright colours. I also added a filter to the video to brighten up the background colours as I wanted the video to constitute happiness- which is also why all the clips show people laughing and having fun. When filming, I edited as I went along so that I ensured I had enough clips and could film more clips if I needed. This meant I didn’t have to repeat any clips, and made the video more interesting and kept the audience engaged. Although the storyline wasn’t explicit in my music video, the message it illustrated was evident through the use of lip-syncing the important lyrics and the different collations of videos. This depicted the intention of showing friendship, and how important it is in ensuring happiness. The colour scheme helped portray this as the connotations of bright colours is happiness and liveliness which is what the whole video represented. When filming I followed my storyboard and had chosen most of my locations before hand which made filming a lot easier. However whilst filming we came across different locations and I filmed candid videos which I put into the video that weren’t planned as this made it look more authentic and genuine to the message.

I think next time I need to improve on costumes and makeup as I didn’t plan what I wanted the actors to wear or any makeup so I think that could’ve added to it if I planned the outfits and makeup. They were also wearing their school lanyard in clips which distracted from the shot so that looked a bit messy and next time ill pay more attention to school details. I also will add more detail to my storyboard as it didn’t include enough detail; just inspiration for the shots which meant I didn’t know exactly what angle I was going to film everything from or what transitions I was going to use. Next time I’ll also include more transitions from clip to clip as I didn’t include any transitions which would’ve made it appear smoother and look more professional. Next time I’d also like to film in more remote locations rather than in school or near school, as the mise en scene could’ve been more exciting if filmed in nicer locations. This means I need to plan more ahead- as I had to change my video due to coronavirus- so that I can film in different locations whilst I can so im not affected by circumstances. This also means I need to decide who will participate in my video in advance rather than as i’m filming it, and what scenes each person will be in as in my video the protagonist changed throughout.
